emacs tabs more vim-like -

I'm currently trying to emacs coming from vam, the only thing that I miss a lot is: tabs ( In GUI sense). I know but it does not have a Windows partition (for example with C-X3) from the tabs tab while the Vim does it. Is there a plugin for AMACX that handles tabs in a more uniform way ?
