Has anyone used the ASE (concept) other than proof of concept?
What are the major limitations?

For the Android mask, the API is primarily focused on making scripts easier to write than those scripts' performance. He said, remember the saying "remedy first, then adapt." The ASE is all about rapid development after all.
If you have performance concerns for your application, it would be better to use standard Android SDK (or NDK), where your system has more control.
