apache - Access Rails under /app/, not /app/public/ -

I am Apache 2.2.10 and FastCGI (Yes, Bad, Antique, Ugly, I know). And I know that this is not a programming question, but please bear with me.

My application can be accessed via example.com/app/public/ , but I want to access it via example.com/app / .

I have in the .htaccess-file (in the app / -directory!) I have:

  RewriteBase / app / rewritecond on% {REQUEST_FILENAME}! -f Rewrite rule ^ (. *) $ Public / dispatch.fcgi [QSA, L]  

I request each app / to app / Go to Public / ? Every time I try (e.g., RewriteRule ^. * $ Public / $ 1 [QSA] ) I get a routing error:

  Root matches "/ app /" <: Method = & gt ;: get}
