Why are the runtime heaps used in the C-style languages for dynamic memory allocation and both are called "hep" is? Have some links?
Donald Knuth (Computer Art of Programming, Third Ed., Vol. 1, P435):
Many authors called the pool of memory available about 1975 as "pile".
He does not say those who do not refer to authors and any special letter, but say that the word "pile" is used in relation to the priority queues, the term has a traditional meaning.
